Christian Eng

wurde am 25. Juli 1836 in Geudertheim im Elsass geboren und erhielt seine Erziehung dort in der öffentlichen Schule. Er wanderte im Jahre 1854 nach Amerika aus und liess sich vorerst in Verona, N. Y., nieder, woselbst er eine Zeitlang als Verkäufer in einer “Grocery” thätig war. Verzog auf 1 Jahr nach South Bend im Staate Indiana, und kehrte dann wieder nach Verona zurück. Hier verheirathete er sich im Jahre 1859 und kam im folgenden Jahre (1860) nach Syracuse, wo er seitdem seinen ständigen Wohnsitz hatte. Er ist Glied der Odd Fellow Loge No. 180 (Lincoln Loge) und gehört ebenfalls zum Elsass-Lothringer-Verein. Gegenwärtig ist er im Feuer-Versicherungswesen mit gutem Erfolg thätig. Herr Eng erfreut sich eines ausgedehnten Bekanntenkreises und hat sich durch seine biedere Rechtschaffenheit die wohlverdiente Achtung aller derer erworben, die ihn zu kennen das Vorrecht haben. He emigrated to America in 1854 and settled first in Verona, New York where he worked for awhile as a salesman in a "Grocery." After one year he moved on to South Bend, Indiana, then came back to Verona. There he was married in 1859 and came in the following year (1860) to Syracuse, where he has lived ever since. He is a member of Odd Fellow Lodge No. 180 (Lincoln Lodge) and also of the Alsace-Lorraine Society. He is currently achieving good success in the fire insurance field. Mr. Eng enjoys a wide circle of acquaintances and his reputation for honesty has brought him the well-deserved attention of all who are privileged to know him.
